Our Founder

CHILDLIFE NETWORK INTERNATIONAL was founded by Allan and Maggie Ssemenjunyi and registered as a Canadian charity in 2007. After living most of his life in Uganda, Allan moved to Canada in 2002. As a child, Allan had to deal not only with the crippling effects of illness but also with dire poverty, violence, abuse, and social and political upheaval. Having been the victim of family violence, Allan became homeless as a young man in the dangerous city of Kampala in the 1980’s, before finding refuge in an orphanage.

The misfortunes that are typical in Uganda had ravaged Allan’s family; he has lost many siblings to HIV/AIDS, others to military conflicts, and a neighbor poisoned his older sister after an altercation at a soccer game.

Having seen and experienced the profound hardships that millions of African children face, Allan resolved to fight the conditions that give rise to these hardships.

Together with his wife Maggie, Allan founded Childlife Network International Inc, and a Canadian registered charity which he has led and promoted for over 10 years.
